An EATventure is more than just a food experience. It's something you write home about. EATventures are often cultural lessons in the form on food that teach you about destinations, their people and often yourself in the process. And then again, sometimes it's just about the food - amazingly unique and tasty food that you've never had before and just can't get at home. If it's hard to find, only eaten in a certain part of the world, has a strong local legacy, is only made by XX producers or has an incredibly long explanation (or debate) for why it is the best [insert food item or dish here], then it's definitely EATventurous!
Who are EATventurers?
Anyone can be an EATventurer although most share certain characteristics.
- They tend to "worship" Anthony Bourdain (and want his job!)
- They support local businesses and a more 'European' model of food communities and culture.
- They are not afraid to go out of their way for special travel experiences. In fact, the harder it is to find or get to, the better!
- They are genuinely interested in learning about the story behind the plate, and the people and traditions behind the food.
- They care about their impact on local communities and the environment and try to make choices accordingly.
They are not afraid to try new things (barring any food allergies or potentially trip-ruining illnesses!).
